Battling the Opioid Crisis

In April 2017, the Cherokee Nation filed a lawsuit against McKesson Corporation, Cardinal Health, Inc., AmerisourceBergen, CVS Health, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., and Walmart Stores, Inc. to hold the companies accountable for their failure to prevent the flow of illegally prescribed opioids into Cherokee Nation. Fields PLLC, along with Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, is co-lead counsel in the case, coordinating experts and fighting to hold distributors and retailers accountable.

Antitrust and
consumer protection

In the antitrust and consumer protection area, Fields PLLC represents the Attorney General of the Cherokee Nation and other federally-recognized Indian tribes.  These cases include claims of antitrust pricing fixing, consumer fraud, deceptive trade practices, breach of contract, and other claims. Many of these cases have been developed by federal and state governments as a result of criminal and civil investigations. Fields PLLC works to ensure that sovereign Indian nations and their citizens have a seat at the table and receive their fair share of damages when these cases are prosecuted in court.

The Internet of Things has developed in a manner that presents serious national security risks, as well as unprecedented risks to individuals and to state and local governments around the world.

Fields PLLC is working with multiple law firms, former intelligence and law enforcement officials, and technology experts to take internet security to another level. Through a creative approach that relies on skills from multiple disciplines, we are addressing the unique technical, social, political and financial issues presented by the vulnerability of global networks to private-sponsored and state-sponsored hacking.

We believe that litigation can serve as an asymmetrical tool to address this and other issues of national security. Legal action can provide solutions that might otherwise be inaccessible or unaffordable in the near future, and we must act immediately to prevent extraordinary harm.
